For this blog I watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer, “Halloween.” I do not feel that the episode had one theme or meaning to it, I think it was just a fun episode since it had to do with Halloween. What I want to focus on is the jealousy that overcomes Buffy when any other girl is associated with Angel.
She is supposed to be meeting Angel for a date at The Bronze. She walks in and sees Cordelia and Angel talking. She automatically assumes it is some kind of flirting, when really Angel was ignoring her and talking about Buffy the whole time. Buffy starts to turn around and leave, but Angel sees her and stops her from leaving. Then Buffy is looking through a book about Angel that she stole from Gile’s personal office in the library. She finds the girls that he hung out with at the age of eighteen before he was a vampire. She thinks this is the kind of girl that he wants her to be so she dresses up like the girl in the book for Halloween. So not only does Buffy go completely out of her way to impress a guy that is already in love with her, she sneaks behind Gile’s back just to look up Angel’s past. Some jealousy is usually good in a relationship, but this is taking it too far. Angel has not shown any reason for Buffy to doubt how he feels about her. The episode ends with them kissing and happy, but if the jealousy continues I can see there being a problem.
