42- Questions about Common Place paper, help!

So I am not the type of person who procrastinates.  I try and get stuff over with rather than have work pile up, but I totally forgot about this Common Place paper.  So now I am sitting here trying to figure out anything about it.  I do not understand what it is supposed to be about.  I know it is based off our analytical research paper, but I do not know anything else about it.  I wrote my analytical research paper on self esteem and attitude and the girl in the Buffy episode was invisible so that is what I am working with.  I know in class I talked about something to do with what people would do if they were invisible for a day.  So that is a very vague topic and I do not know what to do with that.  I am reading the example of the Common Place paper on Carmen, but it still is not giving me a good idea of what is expected for this paper.  Also, since our last class was a week ago I completely forget what we talked about with it.  All I remember is we wrote a blog at the end of class kind of dealing with it.  I feel like if I were to write my paper right now I would just ramble on about something that has nothing to do with what the paper is supposed to be about.  I can ramble on when I am writing a blog like I am now, but this paper is a lot more important.  So I guess if anyone can help me at all I would really appreciate it, thanks.

  1. Don’t hold me to this because I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I think that for our paper we are supposed to come up with a topic based off of the episode we chose from the ARP. Then we’re supposed to take that topic and write a paper that is timely, compelling, relevant, and has both an argument and call-to-action. It was my understanding that for the topic we could choose whatever we wanted as long as we could somehow link it back to our episode. But like I said before I’m not really sure that this is accurate because I pieced this together based on my vague recollection of last weeks class and some notes that I took. Good luck, I hope this helps!

  2. oh ok, thanks that helped. I just don't understand how were supposed to take the topic and write another paper about it, like are we just supposed to make something random up, like a real life event, or like are we supposed to make up an event or what? i'm just really confused.

  3. I'm pretty confused as to what we're supposed to be writing too. I think it's because she hasn't given us a definite topic to write about except that it has to somewhat link to your ARP. You could write a made-up story about how maybe one girl was treated like she was invisible for so long that she actually did become invisible. Or maybe you can write about an experience of yours where you felt like no one could see you...it could span off to a lot of different directions.
